What is the Chair?

The Bahá'í Chair for World Peace was founded in 1993 at the Center for International Development and Conflict Management (CIDCM) at the University of Maryland. Its mission is the study, presentation, analysis, and application of spiritual principles to questions of international peace, social justice, and human security.

Professor John Grayzel, anthropologist and lawyer, came to the Chair January 2006 after serving 27 years with the United States Agency for International Development (USAID).
